Breakfast With A Difference!

This was today's breakfast...
As I've mentioned before I like cooking.
I have lots of recipies, gathered from here and there, that I am sorting through - space being of the essence in my new small-space living.
So...
It's either make them, like them or throw them away.
Before I do a major grocery shop I find some 'never made before' recipies I have hoarded, buy the ingredients and...
This was today's experiment.
It could be lunch served with a fresh rocket salad.
STONEFRUIT PIZZA
1 pizza base - I used a pita bread
Spread with 2 tab creme fraiche -
Thinking of my waistline I used Ricotta
Thick sprinkling of dried (or fresh) sage
Sliced nectarine, plum or peach
Crumbled blue cheese - as much or little as you like
Bake until base is golden and cheese is bubbling

Move Over Pharmaceuticals

For a long time I have wanted to make my own creams and lotions.
So finally I have done it and made this good enough to eat 'Skin Food'.
Actually there is nothing in it that you couldn't eat...
So as I nourish my skin I am also feeding my body.
Do you know that what you put on your skin is absorbed and shows up in blood tests.
I am passionate about NOT using cheap commercial products with Parabens (a cheap toxic petroleum derived preservative) and Soduim Laurel Sulphate  (another cheap petroleum derived substance that starts it's life as an industrial degreaser).
These are killing us.
These substances are found in women's breast cancer cells and men's prostate cancer cells.
They only exist to make the pharmceutical companies rich.
As Napoleon Bonapart said "You medical people will have more lives to answer for in the other world than even we generals".

So here is the recipe -
I changed it a bit as my Motor Home kitchen is small so I used what I had!
The cost $13!  So no excuses - get cooking.

SKIN FOOD - BODY LOTION
3/4 cup almond oil
1/3 cup coconut oil
25gr grated beeswax
2/3 cup rosewater (I used green tea made with 2 tea bags)
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
1-2 drops rose oil (I used 6 drops lavender oil)
2 vitamin E oil capsules
Melt almond, coconut & beeswax gently (picture) let cool.
Mix rosewater, aloe vera, rose oil & vit E.
Whip this mixture into beeswax mix till thick smooth and creamy.

More... Beautiful New Zealand...

I spent a night here at Whangaumu Beach...
Parked on a grassy reserve overlooking this vista.
It's near Tutukaka, a well known game fishing resort.
I walked this short but beautiful walk...
At low tide climbed over a headland then round the bays to Ngunguru.
The Far North of New Zealand is a treasure trove of
numerous hidden delights.

Two Of The Best...

I came across this Sculpture Symposium recently.
All the pieces exhibited had been crafted on site...
By sculptors from all round New Zealand.
Some smaller pieces were quickly made, a collection making that particular display.
Others took 10 days of loving, careful chipping, shaping and polishing.
They were judged then auctioned.

These two were my favourites...
The black face made from Basalt stone & beautifully polished, sold for $5,000.
The white one is made from Oamaru stone.
It was a pleasure to look at them and absorb their beauty.

Catching The Wave!

Seizing the moment is what it's all about.
It's an off shore westerly wind today...
Whipping up the waves.
Excellent for surfing.
My new boogie board and I are having some close encounters...
Of the wet kind.

Welcome to Licorice Allsorts.

The Laughing Bedstead is no more.
Licorice Allsorts is my new blog...
It will be a place, as the name implies, where all sorts of things
 are and will be happening...
Where joyous, colourful and sweet things will  be found.
I'm looking forward to serving you up tasty treats...
Of all sorts, shapes, sizes and flavours.
